In spite of the reports that the collections of My Name is Khan featuring Shahrukh Khan and Kajol have dipped after the release weekend, it is continuing to rake in revenue big time. Believe it or not, it has already earned Rs.174.60 crore worldwide and still counting.

Film distributors said that MNIK grossed Rs.102.2 in Indian alone and Rs.72.4 crore from abroad, which is an all time high for a Hindi film at the international market. It earned USD 3.3 million in the Middle East, which is the highest for a Bollywood film. The collections are nearly on par with Hollywood biggies like Dark Knight, Transformers 2, Spider Man 3 and Twilight: New Moon. Read more….

SRK starts off by thanking Kajol for doing MY NAME KHAN, and then takes a dig at himself by saying that in case of both DILWALE DULHANIA LE JAYENGE and KUCH KUCH HOTA HAI, he felt that they were written for Kajol and she was brilliant in both of them! He adds that even Karan jokingly tells him that yeah he had written both the subjects for Kajol but somehow SRK managed to do well! Shah Rukh, who is essaying the title role in MY NAME IS KHAN, admits that this time the film was written for him but complements Kajol by saying – The film wouldn’t have worked if Kajol were not so brilliant in it. My Name Is Khan: Music Review

The soundtrack of the latest offering of Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan, ” My Name Is Khan “, boasts of Sufi flavour. Composed by Johar’s favourite Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, the album has six originals and most of the compositions are soul-stirring.

The album starts with ” Sajda “. Sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shankar Mahadevan and Richa Sharma, it’s a Sufi number that tugs at one’s heartstrings. The sounds of tablas and dholaks keep the listener hooked. With great voices behind the mike, “Sajda” is a must hear.

Next is ” Noor-e-khuda “, an unplugged version sung by Adnan Sami, Shreya Ghoshal and Shankar. It’s a soft, pleasing love ballad that instantly strikes a chord. Most part of the song is male- dominated, but it gets an edge when Shreya enters with her honey-tucked voice close to the end of the track.

Shafqat Amanat Ali renders ” Tere naina ” brilliantly. The subtle orchestration and melody make for an interesting hear. It changes gear mid-way when it slips into the qawwali mode which elevates it further. Read more…
