The second big clash at the box-office in the year 2010 so far will happen this coming Friday. And again it’s an Amitabh Bachchan film. So after Rann and Ishqiya battled it out at the box-office last month, the last week of February will see Amitabh Bachchan’sTeen Patti facing strong competition from Farhan Akhtar’s Karthik Calling Karthik .

Both Teen Patti and Karthik Calling Karthik are modern-day movies coming from new-age filmmakers. Leena Yadav directed Teen Patti stars Amitabh Bachchan with Hollywood celeb Ben Kingsley, R Madhavan, Saira Mohan and a string of newcomers from Sharadha Kapoor, Dhruv Ganesh, Siddharth Kher to Vaibhav Talwar. Farhan's next 'Don' to go on floors in October

Audiences can get ready for Bollywood villain Don’s next chase with director-actor Farhan Akhtar all ready to start shooting the sequel to his hit film “Don” from October this year.

“The next ‘Don’ is coming up really well. At the moment, we are into heavy pre-production for that. We would start shooting on Oct 1 or Oct 2… that’s the scheduled date to start shooting for now. So we are getting there… slowly but surely. (I am) very excited about it. And I am quite certain that I’ll have a great time making it and that the audience will surely enjoy it,” Farhan told reporters here.

“Don – The Chase Begins” was a remake of 1978 movie “Don” that had megastar Amitabh Bachchan as the gangster. The film received a cult status and is still etched in the minds of many movie buffs.

In 2007, Farhan came out with the “Don – The Chase Begins” with Shah Rukh Khan in the title role. Now the director is set to make part two of the movie and says he will retain most of the star cast from the first instalment.

“There will be a lot of people from my previous ‘Don’ itself. So there will be Shah Rukh Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani, Arjun Rampal and Om Puri. There are also new characters added to the script this time but they are currently being cast,” he said.

Farhan was in the capital Monday to promote his movie “Karthik Calling Karthik”, a thriller releasing on 500 screens Friday. Read more…

Journalists manhandled at Karthik Calling Karthik press meet

Journalists were allegedly manhandled by private security guards during a press meet held for promotion of Deepika Padukone and Farhan Akhtar starrer Karthik Calling Karthik (KCK) at a cinema theatre in Surat today, police said.

The incident took place when Padukone, along with co-star Farhan Akhtar arrived to address a press conference at the Rajhans Cinema theatre on Pal road, they said. Read more…

This is one star who loves his pranks on the sets as much as off it. Recently according to a close source, this actor was found to be one prankster that would put the naughtiest jack in class to shame.

On the sets of ‘Karthik calling Karthik’ Farhan was supposed to have a telephone wire wound around his neck for a particular sequence of the film. So the director, Vijay Lalwani was busy directing how to go about the shot as Farhan had the loop of wire around his neck. Suddenly, while trying to explain he happened to see Farhan lying life less and still.As the director called out to him and still there was no response, there was panic strewn all over the director’s pale face. Karthik busy with Don 2

Even as Karthik Calling Karthik moves closer to the release date, Farhan Akhtar is busy with other things. Globetrotting, for one. Well, he’s not really on a world tour to calm his nerves before the release, instead, he is already working on his next big venture — Don 2.

Along with his business partner, Ritesh Sidhwani, he is apparently doing a recce around Germany, Turkey, Manila and Poland to scout for locations. The mega-scale movie will supposedly be shot across two continents, and the producer dosts will spare no costs to make this one a helluva grand movie. Writing is Vijay Lalwani’s first love and so perfect is he at that, that the script of Karthik Calling Karthik was flawless, up until the climate forced him to alter a scene in the film. Yes you did read right, Vijay had to change just one part of the story due to weather!
