Aishwarya breaks into Tamil at audio release

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai made a rare appearance at an audio launch here and took many by surprise when she broke into fluent Tamil.

It wasn’t just any audio launch but that of Tamil film Rettaichuzhi produced by Shankar, who is directing her opposite superstar Rajnikanth in Endhiran: The Robot.

Draped in a white sari, Aishwarya was at her courteous best at Sathyam Cinemas Monday evening as she got up to greet veteran directors K. Balachander and Bharathiraaja who play pivotal roles in the film.

Shankar said it was great to have Aishwarya as she hardly attended audio launches. He recalled that the former beauty queen wasn’t present for the launch of his Jeans, one of her first hit films. Read more…

She is one of the biggest stars in Bollywood but Aishwarya Rai Bachchan says that her stint in the Tamil film industry is an important part of her career and a great learning experience.

The 36-year-old actress may have reached the very top of the industry, but says that working with ace Tamil director Shankar in Jeans “taught” her a lot.

“Working in Jeans remains an integral part. It taught me so much technically and content wise and now I am having a wonderful time working in Enthiran (the sci-fi flick starring Tamil superstar Rajnikanth, directed by Shankar),” said the actress. Read more…

Ash visits Abhishek's grandmother despite illness

For Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai, her relationships seem to score over everything – so much so that even though she was unwell, she travelled to Bhopal to celebrate the 80th birthday of her husband Abhishek Bachchan’s maternal grandmother.

According to a source close to Aishwarya, this was a commitment the couple had made to Abhishek’s ‘nani’ (maternal grandmother) a while ago. And despite the high fever and sore throat that she has been suffering from since a few days, Aishwarya made sure she was there to fulfil her promise.

“Aishwarya is much much better, but still not 100 percent (fine). But she’s my nani’s favourite so she made the trip too. Should be back to fighting fit… in a day or two,” Abhishek posted on social networking site Twitter.

The actor says his grandmother’s expression on seeing both of them was “priceless”.

“Made a surprise trip to Bhopal last night (Monday). Was my nani’s 80th birthday! Her expression was priceless. All her grandchildren flew in from all over. Doting parents-in-law Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan are looking after Bollywood star Aishwarya Rai who is down with high fever and has been advised bed rest by doctors.

“Aishwarya has come back from the shoot in pain and distress. Doctors called, investigation done and medication registered to settle issues down, but it persists,” Amitabh Bachchan, posted on his blog bigb.bigadda.com.

Explaining the condition of his daughter-in-law, the Big B wrote: “There is high fever and an infection in the throat, cannot talk, cannot swallow. Sad and so concerned to see her in such a condition. Abhishek has been summoned from his shoot as Jaya and I attend to her.”
